JAPAN GT SSO drift 2007 22-23 JUNE

JAPAN GT WAS A VERY HOT EVENT!!

THe event was situated at the PA1 car park lot at Sepang F1 Circuit.
it was totally awesome! i had enjoyed the event very much. The event started at 9.30am with the scruitineering of cars and next of was the drivers briefing.
the track layout looked like this

it was a 3rd gear drift. but during practice session. i felt that 3rd gear my car was uncontrollable so i decided to use 2nd gear all the way. i asked other drifters which gear they were using. most of them were using 2nd gear as well. that gave me a piece of relief as i thought everyone was using 3rd gear to drift.

when practice session started. i tried to get closer to the clipping zone but i couldnt get close enough. however, i was quite happy with my performance during practice and it gave me a bit of self confidence.

after the long lunch break the expert qualifying started and then it was the novice qualifiying. i was getting abit nervous, my stomach was churning. i got all pumped up when my turn was coming.

my first run was the best among the 3 runs. i did it clean and nice. i got 80 marks.
the 2nd run i under a bit at the clipping zone and got 75 marks. the 3rd run i did the same and got 72 marks.

I was happy i got 12 out of 37 novice drifters

(12+top16-Novice top3) = 25

that makes me top 25 oftotal 54 drifters

it was very very exciting. i got a lot a support from the spectators they all cheered for me and i waved back. i was very happy eventhough i did not qualify for the top 3. the top 3 will have to battle with 13 experts for the top 3 again. i still have a long way to go till i reach the top 3

i was glad that my friends, family and sponsors gave me support during all the events. thank you all. i really appreciate the support!

my bumper is being fixed right now at ZENT auto stylin in KLANG they managed to restore my bumper which broke in 5 pieces.. im so glad!

Malaysian Drift Challenge

the malaysia drift challenge was VERY challenging…
not only was it a high speed corner but also it was a WET track

On the day before, my car had problems as it was having some jerking problems. i was not able to figure out why was it jerking and so i handed my car over to the professionals. I sent them over to LINKS to have the car do a check up and the only last minute way was to refigure my ECU.. and so THe workshop manage to get the car done up in time and i was very happy. THe car was very very reponsive and i could feel a big difference. After that i installed my newly bought URAS bumper.

on Race day, i had to redo last minute alignment and found out that my rear toe rod was damaged. so i got replacements and the car was done up just in time for the race.
The weather was breezy and nice during practice session. I had 5 tries to get used to the race track. it was pretty hard considering its a 3rd gear drift and i seldom played 3rd gear drift but i tried my best to get the correct line and tried to get wider but right after the drifter briefing session. The rain came pouring like cats and dogs!.. the wind and rain made us all soaking wet even though we had got ourself some tents. We had a hard time changing tyres due to the rain.
The rain didnt stop and continued. My turn was coming and i had to do all my best. So, i gave it my best the road was very wet and slippery. for the first 2 runs i overspun and the third try i wanted to get the right lining so i took a very risky late drift and i was getting the rigght angle but i felt it was not right so i tugged the hand brake all the way and crashed into the tyre wall :<

i was very dissapointed i should have let go of the e brake. i need to practice more high speed corners before i ever attempt it again . In the End, i didnt qualify for best 16.
the winner was tan tat wei, second was ivan lau and third was along

mom was not angry with me, she advised me to make sure i dun have the mind set that im going to crash and just do what im suppose to do.

anyway it was a good experience for me even though it costs me a bumper.. i really appreciate that ah fai sponsored me into this event and i hope to join more events in the future

penang trip 8,9,10 June

just last weekend i went to penang with my classmates from kdu.. it is our last trip together.

we took the ferry to penang it was windy

i stayed at the NORTHAM hotel in gurney drive.. it was a very nice hotel

the room was big! and it had a jakuzi!

i bought a mr. bean bear at batu feringgi look how big the jakuzi is!!

i went to batu feringghi beach for some water sports

then went on a boat ride to monkey beach

at the tropical farm VERY FARRRR AWAY up the hills!… very pening to go there i had a masive migrain going up

my bear was tired from all the walking and driving around…

my legs were very tired because of the long hours of driving.. my ankle hurt when i was pedaling the breaks and throttle sigh!!.. hope this doesnt become serious!
